Understanding the difference between Frameology's Classic vs. Luxe frames

At Frameology, our mission is to make online framing more affordable and accessible for as many people as possible, which is why we offer two different tiers for wall frames: Classic vs. Luxe. Not sure which tier is right for you? Let’s break it down.

We’re proud to say that all of our frames are hand framed in the USA and utilize the same museum-quality materials and acid-free matting you’d find at most local galleries, but here’s a quick rundown of what sets Classic vs. Luxe frames apart.

Entrada Archival 100% cotton fine art paper
Comes with all the hanging hardware you need
Not compatible with mounting strips or velcro adhesives

How can you tell which frames or gallery walls are Classic vs. Luxe? It’s simple! Each of our wall frames are labeled by Classic or Luxe at the beginning of each product name. Our only wall frame in the Classic line is the Classic Wall, while the Luxe line includes the Luxe Wall, Luxe Wall Wide, Luxe Wall Thin, and Luxe Vintage.

While Classic Wall and Luxe Wall frames may look identical from the front, the main differences are more clear from the back.

The reason velcro wall adhesives or mounting strips cannot be used with Luxe frames is because it will damage the permanent paper backing and leave your beautifully framed photos exposed in a way that was not intended.

Additionally, due to all Luxe frames’ custom nature, the dual-point hanging system is permanently installed to the orientation of your photo (landscape or portrait) while Classic frames have the flexibility to swap photos and change the way the frames are displayed on the wall, either horizontally or vertically.

How Classic and Luxe gallery walls make installation effortless

The hardest part of creating a gallery wall usually isn’t choosing the photos to frame — it’s the installation. The great news is, both Classic and Luxe gallery walls come with a life-sized gallery wall template that makes installation as seamless as possible. There are a couple of differences between the hanging instructions for Classic vs. Luxe gallery walls due to the way each type of frame is hung.

Classic gallery walls (starting at $198) include frames that are hung from a single center point, so the template shows you exactly where each nail should go. Classic gallery walls do not include hanging hardware, so you have the option to choose whether you would like to use nails or damage-free mounting strips.
